About Wordle Unlimited

Wordle Unlimited is the unlimited-play version of the word-guessing phenomenon that swept the internet in 2021–2022. The original Wordle by Josh Wardle — later acquired by The New York Times — gives you just one puzzle per day. Wordle Unlimited removes that restriction entirely: play as many consecutive rounds as you want, any time, with a fresh randomly selected five-letter word each game.

The core mechanic is identical to the original. You have six attempts to identify a hidden five-letter word. After each guess, tiles change color to guide you: green means the letter is in the correct position, yellow means the letter exists in the word but is in the wrong spot, and gray means the letter doesn't appear anywhere. Using these clues strategically, most words can be solved in three to five guesses by a skilled player.

Wordle Unlimited is the perfect way to practice your Wordle skills and improve your average solve count. Every round also updates your played/won/streak stats in your browser, so you can track your improvement over time. Whether you want to warm up before the daily puzzle, practice a specific strategy, or simply play without limits, this version has you covered.

How to Play Wordle Unlimited

  • Type any five-letter English word using your keyboard and press Enter to submit
  • Green tile: correct letter, correct position — lock it in
  • Yellow tile: correct letter, wrong position — it belongs somewhere else in the word
  • Gray tile: this letter does not appear anywhere in the answer
  • You have 6 attempts — use your clues wisely to narrow down possibilities
  • After solving (or failing), click Next Word for a brand-new puzzle immediately
  • Your streak counter rewards consecutive wins — try to build a 10+ game streak!

Best Starting Words

  • CRANE — covers C, R, A, N, E (5 of the most common letters)
  • SLATE — S, L, A, T, E — excellent vowel + consonant spread
  • AUDIO — hits 4 vowels (A, U, D, I, O) in one guess
  • ARISE — top-ranked by information theory algorithms
  • STORE — S, T, O, R, E — eliminates common endings fast

Using a consistent opener each game builds pattern recognition faster than changing your starter every round.

Advanced Strategy

  • Hard mode mindset: Even without hard mode, always use confirmed letters in every guess
  • Double letters: If you've used all 26 letters as grays and haven't solved it, suspect double letters
  • Common endings: -ING, -ED, -LY, -ER, -EST appear in hundreds of words — guess around them
  • Vowel check: By guess 2, try to confirm all 5 vowels (A, E, I, O, U) if possible
  • Process of elimination: Never re-guess a gray letter — every guess should give new information
