About Pac-Man

Pac-Man was designed by Toru Iwatani and released by Namco in Japan on May 22, 1980. It became a worldwide phenomenon, earning over $2.5 billion in quarters during the 1980s. The character became as recognizable as Mickey Mouse.

This version features a neon-lit maze, smooth pixel movement, proper ghost AI, glowing dots, power pellet bars, and score popups — all running at 60fps in your browser.

How to Play Pac-Man

  • Use arrow keys to move through the maze
  • Eat all small dots to complete the level
  • Avoid the four colored ghosts — they cost a life
  • Eat a power pellet (large dot) to turn ghosts blue
  • Chase blue ghosts for +200 bonus points
  • Use the side tunnels to escape dangerous situations

Ghost Behavior

  • Blinky (Red) — directly chases Pac-Man
  • Pinky (Pink) — targets ahead of Pac-Man
  • Inky (Cyan) — unpredictable flanking AI
  • Clyde (Orange) — chases, then retreats when close

Scoring

  • Small dot: 10 points
